Security: FCT NYSC Coordinator Urges Corps Members to be Vigilant

The FCT coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Hajiya Walida Siddique has called on corps members to be security conscious in carrying out their primary assignments as they are the first chief security officers of their lives.
Mrs. Walida made the call Monday during the visit to another Corps member at National Hospital affected by the Shi’ite violent protest in Abuja.
The affected corps member, Aliyu Suleiman (FC/19A/4188), was also hit by a stray bullet in a taxi on his way to Leadership Group Limited, his place of primary assignment.
”On my way to my primary Assignment, we heard gunshots very close to us, while our driver was about to turn, I couldn’t feel my left arm. It was then I realized I was hit by a bullet after which I immediately notified my National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) CDS officer, Mrs. Adama Anabel who called the attention of the management on the incident” he said.

They referred us to Saint Mary Hospital alongside my cousin bother where a nurse noticed I have lost a lot of blood and they sent us back to National Hospital where I was immediately operated on” Aliyu added.
Chairperson of the NYSC Governing Board, Hajiya Safiya Umar, represented by FCT Assistant Director of Youth Development, Mrs. Hajarat Ayandele, gave the victim a sum of 200 thousand naira as she wished him quick recovery and advised all Corps members to be vigilant in their daily activities.
Aliyu expressed gratitude to the governing board and the NYSC management for coming to his aid as well as the free treatment he received. While, Hajiya Walida in her remark appreciated the management of National Hospital for the proper treatment they rendered to the victim.
Meanwhile the violent protest on the 22 of July 2019, claimed the lives of a corps member with channels television, Precious Owolabi and that of the Deputy Commissioner of police(DCP) Usman Umar.
