Nigerian Army seeks Egypt’s assistance for counter-insurgency
The Nigerian Army (NA) has solicited the assistance of the Egyptian Government to help fight terrorism and other emerging security threats in the country.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, made the appeal on Thursday, while hosting the Egyptian Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Assem Elseify, and his delegation, at the Army Headquarters.

Buratai, noted that Nigeria and Egypt have long-standing diplomatic and military relationships.
He also disclosed that several officers and men of NA have undergone special combat trainings in Egyptian military institutions.
The COAS, pointed out that with cooperation between the two countries, the challenges of terrorism across Africa, and other emerging security threats will be curbed.
Earlier, Mr. Elseify, disclosed that their visit was to strengthen the existing relationship between Egypt and Nigeria, in critical areas of security and national development.
