In furtherance of its objective of restoring peace and security in the North East of the Country, the Armed Forces of Nigeria, through the Air Task Force of Operation LAFIYA DOLE on 30 April 2020, neutralized some Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) and destroyed some of their logistics facilities at Parisu in the Sambisa Forest area of Borno State.
The air strike, which was executed as a precursor to further air and ground operations, was conducted after intelligence reports revealed that the terrorists had resumed use of the settlement as a staging area to launch attacks against nearby troops’ locations.
Recent aerial surveillance missions had also shown significant terrorist activities in the area whilst identifying some compounds housing the fighters and their logistics items.
Consequently, the Air Task Force dispatched its fighter jets to attack the location. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) jets, while taking turns to engage the target area, scored accurate bomb and rocket strikes, resulting in the destruction of some of the structures as well as the killing of several terrorists.
The Armed Forces of Nigeria will continue to sustain the offensive against the enemies of the Country, until peace and normalcy are restored in all parts of Nigeria.

ANTI-BANDITRY OPERATIONS RECEIVE BOOST AS NAF COMMISSIONS MASSIVE INFRASTRUCTURAL PROJECTS IN KATSINA, ZAMFARA STATES
In furtherance of efforts to boost its contribution to the fight against armed banditry, cattle rustling and other forms of criminality in the Northwest of the Country, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has completed some projects in Katsina, Daura and Gusau in Katsina and Zamfara States. The completed projects, which include residential accommodations and other facilities, would facilitate the deployment of additional personnel and assets to support anti-banditry and anti-cattle rustling operations under the auspices of Operation HADARIN DAJI. The commissioning at 213 Forward Operating Base (213 FOB), Katsina and Quick Response Wing, Daura took place today, 30 April 2020, while that of the 207 Quick Response Group (207 QRG), NAF Base, Gusau took place yesterday, 29 April 2020. The infrastructural projects commissioned at 213 FOB, Katsina include a Mosque, Gymnasium, 12 x 1 bedroom Single Officers’ Quarters (SOQ) accommodation and 6 x 2 Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs’) accommodation. The commissioned projects in Daura include a Mosque, Protestant Church, Catholic Church, Officers’ Mess, Gymnasium, Commander’s accommodation, 18 x 1 bedroom SNCOs’ accommodation, 10 x 1 bedroom SOQ and 12 x 1 bedroom SOQ.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony in Katsina, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, who was represented by the Air Officer Commanding Special Operations Command (AOC SOC), Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Charles Ohwo, stated that the present NAF leadership had been addressing the welfare needs of its personnel to motivate them for more effective operations geared towards the attainment of national security objectives. He appreciated the good people of Katsina State, especially members of the NAF’s host communities, for their hospitality and support.
In his welcome remarks, the Commander 213 FOB, Wing Commander Jibrin Abubakar, appreciated the CAS for the massive infrastructural projects which he said would go a long way in boosting morale of troops. He stated that 213 FOB, which was established in 2016 to provide operational support to deployed air assets as well as administrative services for NAF personnel in its Area of Responsibility, had continued to provide support for effective anti-banditry operations in Katsina State.
At the 207 QRG, NAF Base, Gusau, the CAS, represented by the AOC SOC, also commissioned 2 Blocks of 10 x single bedroom transit residential accommodation for officers. Speaking during the event, the CAS stated that the growing presence of NAF operational bases in the 6 Geopolitical Zones of the Country was in tandem with the Federal Government’s efforts to address the security challenges facing the Nation. According to him “the establishment of 207 QRG was aimed at enhancing rapid intervention and targeted offensive operations against threats in Zamfara State and its environs”.
The CAS further stated that the NAF had embarked on aggressive infrastructural development projects to provide training facilities and decent living accommodation for its personnel. These, he said, were executed in recognition of the fact that a highly-motivated, disciplined and professional force is imperative for success in the various Internal Security Operations in which the NAF is involved. This, he noted, would only be possible with the right training as well as the necessary welfare incentives and motivation. He thanked the Government and people of Zamfara State as well as members of the NAF’s immediate host communities for their continued support to the Service.
Also speaking during the ceremony, the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Bello Matawalle, who was represented by his Deputy, Mahadi Muhammed Gusau, commended the efforts of the NAF in addressing the welfare needs of its personnel and, especially, for its role in containing security threats in the State, which, he said, had started yielding positive results.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Commander 207 QRG, Air Commodore Adindu Ekwuribe, expressed his appreciation to the CAS for his unrelenting efforts at ensuring that the operational, logistics and welfare needs of the Unit are constantly being met. He pledged that personnel of 207 QRG, in concert with sister Services and other security agencies, would continue to work assiduously to ensure security of lives and property of citizens within the Unit’s Area of Responsibility.
Other dignitaries present at the events were the Representative of Governor of Katsina State, Permanent Secretary Political, Alhaji Ibrahim Kashim; Brigade Commander 17 Brigade, Brigadier General WB Idris; Representative of Emir of Daura, Alhaji Zakari; the Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello Gusau; the General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Aminu Bande; and Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Usman Nagogo; amongst other senior military and paramilitary officers.
