Police Parade Robbers, Cultists in Abuja
The FCT Police Command wants to inform members of the public that the crime prevention measures deployed by the Command to enhance security across the Federal Capital Territory, and make it a choice place for human habitation and business activities have continued to yield a positive result.
2. This is evident in the recent arrest of sixteen (16) suspects directly linked to crimes like: armed robbery, culpable homicide, cultism, car theft, among others.
3. As a result of these arrests, four (4) locally made pistols, five rounds of live ammunition and other dangerous weapons that would have been used by these criminal elements to cause harm to the public have been successfully withdrawn from circulation by the Command.
4. The Command has also recovered Six (6) Cars, N40,000, one mobile phone, and military camouflage from the suspects as exhibits.
5. The Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Bala Ciroma, assures members of the public, especially FCT residents of the Command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property in FCT. He also commended FCT residents for partnering with the Command in its on-going fight against crime.
6. The details of the recent feats recorded by the Command in its fight against crime are as follows:-
i. ARREST OF HOMICIDE SUSPECTS/RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS
The FCT Police Command has arrested four suspects directly linked to the murder of one Ifeanyi Eze, a vigilante, at Giri on 7th July, 2020. The suspects, Kamal Suleiman 29years, Ali Umar 20years, Mubarak Musa 21years, Abdulmalik Usman 21 years and Yusuf Aliyu 19years all male, were arrested by police operatives from Gwagwlada Division on 8th July, 2020 at Tipper Garage Gwagwalada, after a painstaking police investigation. The suspects, who belong to a notorious armed robbery gang operating around Gwagwalada-Zuba axis, have given some useful statements on their involvement in this and other criminal activities in the area. The following have been recovered from the suspects as exhibits: one locally-made gun, one cutlass, two knives, and one mobile phone. Meanwhile, efforts are in place to arrest other members of the syndicate still at large.
The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
ii. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS/RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS

Similarly, on 2nd July, 2020, acting on tip-off Police operative from the Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) arrested two armed robbery suspects at their hideout in Kubwa, while plotting to attack some spots at Kubwa-Byazhin axis. The suspects, one Adamu Yusuf ‘m’ 26years and Isah Sadiq 25years were arrested in possession of the following exhibits: One (1) locally made pistol, two (2) live cartridges and military camouflage.
In another development, on 13th July, 2020, Police operatives from the Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad on routine patrol arrested one Kelvin Mathew at Byazhin, while trying to escape after robbing a POS operator, at gunpoint, of the sum of forty thousand naira (N40,000). The money was recovered from the suspect. One (1) locally made pistol and one (1) live cartridge have been recovered from the suspect as exhibits.
The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
iii. ARREST OF SUSPECTED CULTISTS/RECOVERY OF EXHIBITS
Furthermore, on 22nd June, 2020, Police Operatives of the Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad on patrol at Gwagwalada along Kuje road arrested three suspected cultists at the area during a clash between cult members. The suspects arrested, one Abba Sunday 26years, Idoko John 28years and Ukwuaba Solomon 25years all male confessed to their membership of the black axe confraternity. The following exhibits have been recovered from the suspects: one (1) locally made pistol and two (2) cartridges.
The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
iv. ARREST OF SUSPECTS/RECOVERY OF VEHICLES
Following an on-going investigation, operatives of the Command Anti-Car Theft Unit have arrested one Musa Adams ‘m’ 35 years old, who specializes in receiving stolen cars. The suspect who has been on the Command watch-list was arrested at his hideout in Kaduna, Kaduna state. Two cars, Honda Odessey Black colour MD 345 KJA and Toyota Camry Gold colour BJ48 DKA, all suspected to have been stolen were recovered from him as exhibits.
Similarly, the Anti-Car Theft Unit acting on a complaint has arrested one Salihu Adekunle ‘m’ 36years old for fraudulently selling cars given to him for hire purchase purposes, without the consent of its owners. The suspect was arrested at Kwali. Two cars, Toyota Matrix Ash colour reg no: RBC 523 BT and Toyota Corolla Ash colour-unregistered, fraudulently sold by the suspect have been recovered as exhibits. Other exhibits recovered by the Anti-Car Theft Unit in its on-going investigations are, Toyota Hiace bus White colour reg no. NEG 56 CB and Honda Accord Black colour-unregistered.
The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
