Eid-Kabir Sallah: Defence Minister Speaks, NSCDC Deploys Personnel

Defence Minister Urges Muslims to Shun Vices and Observe Peaceful Eid-Kabir Festival

The Minister of Defence Maj Gen Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd) has harped on the need for Muslim Ummah to take advantage of the celebration of the Eidil – Adah, known as the Festival of Sacrifice to promote peaceful co-existence and good neighbourliness in the country.

General Magashi stated this in a goodwill Sallah message through his Special Assistant Media and Publicity, Mohammad Abdulkadri. He said at this period of our national life every Nigerian should be committed to complimenting government’s efforts to end banditry, insurgency and other criminalities in parts of the Country. He points out that the security of the nation is a civic responsibility of all and should not be perceived erroneously as the exclusive preserve of the Fighting Forces.

The Minister therefore , calls for collective resolve to evolve ways to deepen the ethos and ethics of Service and Sacrifice to the nation at this holy period when Muslims perform sacrificial offerings of rams in supplication to the Almighty Allah. He notes that the Festival of Sacrifice at this point in time offers splendid opportunity for muslims to render sincere prayers for the nation to overcome her security challenges. General Magashi assured that the Commander-In- Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari is deploying sufficient political will and all necessary machineries to decisively deal with all threats to national territorial integrity for peace and tranquillity to reign in the troubled spots.

While urging Muslims to celebrate Sallah with due sense of piety, modesty, and decency, he advocates total compliance with the COVID-19 Protocol by using Face Masks in public places, observe Social distance and washing of hands as well as avoidance of over bloated gathering for congregational Eid prayers. This he said is in conformity with the Federal Government’s directive and national aspirations to stem the escalating figures of the affected persons and to end the pandemic.

The Defence Minister therefore challenged Muslims to uphold peace for which the religeon of Islam stands for and to be their brothers keeper by extending kind gesture of sharing of ram meats with christean brethren to inculcate the spirit of good neighbourliness and to promote inter religeous harmony in the country devoid of dividing lines and antagonistic posture that are capable of jettisioning the much needed societal peace.

The Defence Minister felicitates with Muslim Ummah and wish all nigerians restful and memorable Sallah work – free days. He prayed to Almighty Allah to accept the offerings of sacrificial rams by muslims as act of Ibadah now and in the hereafter.

NSCDC DEPLOYS PERSONNEL, SNIFFER DOGS, AMBULANCES FOR EID-EL-KABIR
The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu has ordered massive deployment of personnel across the nation for Eid-el-kabir festival.

This directive became necessary following the declaration of Thursday 30th and Friday 31st July, 2020 as public holiday marking Eid-el-Kabir festival, a period set aside by Muslim faithful to offer sacrifice to Allah, give alms to the needy and show love to all concern.

He charged the State Commandants to work in synergy with other sister Agencies and urged the personnel to be civil and diplomatic in their approach to the populace.

He said, personnel should be deployed to prayer grounds, shopping centres, malls, recreation centres, black spots and areas considered to be vulnerable to attack noting that hoodlums, vandals, terrorists and those with sinister motives that target festive periods to carry out their dastardly act.

Why congratulating Muslim faithful, he encouraged them to emulate the qualities of Prophet Mohammed by living an exemplary life that depicts their true practice by preaching and praying for peace in the nation and not to catch at the event as an opportunity to engage in merry making alone or indulge in an act that is unholy.

Gana reiterated that apart from the deployment of personnel, specialised units such as SWAT, CBRN, Rescue Team, Ambulances, Armed Squads and Sniffer dogs should be strategically positioned for quick intervention.

He urged the Public to report any case of emergency, flood, collapse building, vandalism and other criminalities to the Corps.

Gana charged parents and guardians to warn their wards from getting themselves involved in any act that is capable of affecting the peace of the Nation before, during and after the festival as anyone caught will face the wrath of the law.
