ahmed-idrisThe Accountant –General of the Federation Mr. Ahmed Idris has urged Accountants and Finance Officers in Government establishments, including those in the military to ensure strict compliance to the Government Financial Regulations, saying it is the only way to avoid embarrassments in and after service.
Mr. Idris gave this advice recently in Abuja when he received in audience, a delegation of officers from Nigerian Navy who were on a four week training course on Public Financial Management at the Federal Treasury Academy, Orozo, Abuja paid him a courtesy visit.
“As you young officers are desirous to contribute your quota to the development of Nigeria, I  urge you to put into practice what you have learnt at the school, so that Government policies on financial management,  which is to ensure prudence, transparency  and accountability can be realized”, the Accountant –General of the Federation advised the officers.
Further-more, Mr. Ahmed Idris, enjoined the Officers to take a clue from the on-going fight against corruption, where well respected serving and retired officers are being called to answer for their actions in the past, urging them not to be over ambitious, but to observe the ethics and professional dictates of the their jobs.
Mr Idris maintained that as the Nation goes through these tough times, “the only thing that will deliver us as a nation is for us as individuals and as a nation is to do the right thing at all times”.
Earlier, the leader of the group Sub lieutenant K.P. In a Vote of thanks, the Director of the Treasury Academy, Orozo, Mr. Adebola Olalekan, expressed appreciation to the AGF for finding time to meet with the students and for his commitment to the institute which has brought about its rapid transformation, since his assumption of office as the Accountant-General of the Federation and for the delivery of world class training at the institute.
