Buratai Charges Army Cadets, Officers on Assets Declaration
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai, has called on the officials of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) to henceforth be participating in an orientation exercise for fresh Nigerian Army cadets who just graduated from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).
He wants CCB officials to deliver papers at their induction programme, with a view to sensitizing the cadets on the importance of the assets declaration form and decent ethical conducts, among others.
Lt. Gen. Buratai spoke at a workshop on ‘Compliance with Assets Declaration and Code of Conduct for Nigerian Army Officers and Soldiers,’ in Abuja.

According to him, the Army, under his leadership, his desirous of maintaining the highest standard of accountability in the conduct of its activities, consistent with the requirements and behaviour of public officers, which conforms to highest standard of probity, public morality, transparency and accountability.
Buratai, explained that the Nigerian Army has fully complied with the requirements of the Bureau on public procurements, thus enhancing transparency and prudence in financial management.
On his part, Prof. Mohammed Isah, Chairman of CCB, who was represented by Prof. Samuel Ogundare, stressed the need for the COAS to build a robust ethical structure in the Nigerian Army, assuring that CCB will actively be involved in training exercises that will enlighten officers and men of the Army on assets declaration and ethical conducts expected of public officers.
