LaPRIGA: NIPR Lagos Partners IMPR on PR Industry Awards
The Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has partnered Abuja -based Public Relations (PR) outfit, Image Merchant Promotions Limited (IMPR) on the 2020 edition of the Lagos PR Industry Gala dubbed LaPRIGA awards.
The decision to work together in making the event a success was agreed upon when Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter of the NIPR, Mr. Olusegun McMedal paid a courtesy visit to Chief Executive Officer of IMPR, Mallam Yushau Shuaib in his Abuja office.
According to McMedal, the event which is slated to hold on 19th December, 2020 is aimed at recognising excellence and celebrating communications practitioners and stakeholders via awards dinner to boost professionalism and more investment in the practice.
“As professionals, we are being shortchanged. It is only when there is crisis that PR people are being valued so this event is aimed at drawing the attention of necessary stakeholders to value the PR Profession and also market the Institute. It’s the biggest event besides our AGM with over 300 in attendance at the last edition.” He said.

Themed: Culturati, Mr. McMedal pointed out that the subject for this year’s event is tied to Nigeria’s 60th Anniversary celebration.
“It’s going to be a mixture of cultures, cultural outfits and the largest red carpet event you can think of,” he quipped.
He further revealed that the Institute is poised to expand its Corporate Social Responsibility now renamed the “Extra Mile Project” in order to support patients of autism and people in need.
Responding, Yushau Shuaib, a multi award winning PR Practioner who described Mr. McMedal as most energetic, creative and versatile NIPR Chapter Chairman in country, appreciated him for taking the time to visit.
Shuaib, who is also the Publisher of PRNigeria, Spokespersons Digest and Economic Confidential urged NIPR chapters to organise capacity building programme and other activities for advocacy boosting the reputation of the profession.
“We have seen a lot of accomplishments of the NIPR Lagos under your leadership and that believe other chapters can emulate in enhancing the image of our professional body” Shuaib said.
