Startup Eco-system is Vital for Wealth Creation – Kashifu
The Director- General of National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Mallam Kashifu Inuwa has said that a proactive startup ecosystem is necessary for achieving sustainable wealth creation and discovery of innovative solutions to Nigeria’s different challenges.
Kashifu made the assertion at a virtual media interactive session organized by Bridge to MassChallenge (B2MC) Nigeria, in partnership with NITDA ahead of its national innovation startup competition.
He restated the preparedness of NITDA to partner with appropriate indigenous and international organizations towards the growth of innovation startup enterprises and proper positioning of Nigeria as Africa’s leading digital economy.
“A vibrant startup ecosystem is highly critical to the future of our country and it is vital to finding solutions to our various challenges. Innovation is a prominent way of creating prosperity for all and lifting countries out of poverty.

“Considering this NITDA and MassChallenge have partnered to catalyze and support a national startup ecosystem in Nigeria.
“Our startups are targeting the global markets. Nigeria is a leader in the digital skills and startup ecosystem in Africa. Investments attracted by our startups confirm the position’’.
He noted that the objectives of the initiative cannot succeed without the support of all stakeholders in country’s innovation ecosystem, especially the media, which according to him, “ has the most critical role to play’’.
Kashifu identified the other stakeholders to include critical government agencies, the academia, business entities, angel investors and venture capitals and entrepreneurs.
Speaking in the same vein, Siobhan Dullea, Chief Executive Officer of Mass Challenge urged all stakeholders to support the initiative in order to help startups/entrepreneurs create new wealth, new technologies and regional competiveness.
