We’ll design a harmonized template for reporting corruption, CMPA reiterates

The Centre for Media, Policy and Accountability (CMPA) has reiterated its readiness to develop a harmonized template for reporting corruption in Nigeria.

A statement by the Director Communications, Advocacy and Outreach, Ibrahim Uba Yusuf indicates that, CMPA gave the assurance during an advocacy visit to The Rule of Lawa and Anti- Corruption ( RoLAC).

Executive Director CMPA and project lead, Dr Suleiman Amu Suleiman explained that Nigeria Anti-Corruption Performance Public Reporting (NAPPR) is a two year project funded by MacArthur Foundation with four components: research, advocacy, training and roundtables as well as developing a template for reporting corruption in Nigeria.

‘Advocacy is one of the major components of the NAPPR project that gives CMPA the opporunity to share the project with identified Anti-Corruption Agencies (ACAs) and sister organizations and chart a way forward for the successful implementation of the project’ Dr Suleiman noted.

‘The project has research components: desk review, survey and interviews to generate data that will facilitate the development of a harmonized template for reporting corruption in Nigeria’.

Dr Suleiman appealed to RolAC to support CMPA in the implementation of the NAPPR project.

While responding, the Executive Director of RoLAC Danladi Plang said ‘I am glad to meet organizations like CMPA working in the same sector’.

‘RoLAC as an organization is interested in providing technical assistance and grants to CSOs in the same sector and will ensure that NAPPR is a success’.

Also speaking, Emmanuel Uche said in spite of efforts by RolAC on anti-corruption, Nigeria is yet to have a framework containing local indices for reporting corruption.

‘Nigeria needs a unified national reporting framework for anti-corruption. With CMPA on board, this can be achieved’ Emmanuel noted.
