Kayode Egbetokun: From Governor Tinubu’s CSO to Police IG
The Nigerian Police Force, NPF, now has a new Chief Executive. He is Deputy Inspector General, DIG, now Acting Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun.
Egbetokun, for six years – between 1999 and 2005 – was the Chief Security Officer, CSO, to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, when he was Governor of Lagos State.
Born on the 4th of September 1964, in Egbado South Local Government Area of Ogun State, Egbetokun enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet ASP (Course 16) on March 3, 1990.
He obtained his Bsc (ED) (Hons) Mathematics from University of Lagos, Msc in Engineering Analysis Certification in electronic data processing and computer programming, and Masters in Business Administration all from the University of Lagos.
He possesses a PGD in Petroleum Economics from Delta State University, and a PhD in Peace and Security Studies from Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Kwara State.
Kayode Egbetokun attended courses and conferences both at the National and International level, such as; Close Protection Course in the United Kingdom, Squadron Commander Combat Ops Course at PMF Training College (Desert Camp Gwoza and Forest Camp lla).

He was part of the attendees at the Global Conference on Chemical Security and Emerging Threats held in Lyon France in 2018.
He has worked in various commands, formations and departments of the police which includes:
– Chief Security Officer to Governor of Lagos State from 1999-2005.
– Commander RRS Lagos State Command 2005-2007, O/C Anti – Fraud , FCT Command Abuja.
– CSP Admin, Lagos State Command, Area Commander Osogbo – Osun State.
– Area Commander Gusau – Zamfara State.
– Commandant Police Training School ( PTS ) Ikeja Lagos State.
– Deputy Commandant Police College Ikeja Lagos State.
– Commissioner of Police Servicom Force Headquarters Abuja.
– Commissioner of Police Explosive Ordinance Disposal ( EOD ) FHQ.
– Commissioner of Police Kwara State Command.
– Commissioner of Police Admin Medical Faloma Lagos State.
– AIG Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja.
Until his appointment as acting IGP by the President, he was the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Force Criminal Investigations Department at the Force Headquarters (FHQ) in Abuja.
He loves reading, plays Table Tennis and recreational football.
He is happily married with children. Egbetokun is also a fan of Chelsea Football Club.
