The Bauchi Command has arrested suspected hire-Killers and their accomplices. Police detectives attached to Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) in collaboration with Alkaleri Division arrested the following Syndicate: Isa B. Masu, male and 29 years of Nasarawa ward, Kaduna; Umar Mohammed, male and 34 years of Billiri in Gombe State and, Abdulkareem Abdullahi, male and 29 years of the same address.
In order to clear fleeing Boko Haram terrorists hibernating within remote and border areas, Nigerian and Cameroonian troops have carried out another joint operation to weed out Boko Haram terrorists along Nigeria and Cameroon border. The two days joint operation which was led by Col Dourai and Lt Col Mohaman of the Cameroonian Defence Forces had troops drawn from the Cameroon’s Battalion Rapid Intervention (BRI) and 151 Task Force Battalion of 21 Brigade, Nigerian Army.
In response to public complains and suggestions, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (Rtd) has approved the adjustment of points of payment and 60% rebate across board from 2015 downward to ease the process and encourage all motor dealers in position of uncustomed vehicles to come forward and pay duty. While the grace period remains Monday 13th March to Wednesday 12th April, the points of payments with the exception of Lagos and Port Harcourt will now be the nearest Customs Area Command.
A new Director Defence information has been appointed. He is Major General John Enenche. He replaced Brigadier General Rabe Abubakar who is now the Director of Information Management in the Department of Civil Military Affairs, Army Headquarters. Until his appointment as the new Defence Spokesman, Major General Enenche was the Defence Liaison Officer at the Defence Headquarters. He has since taken over with effect from 6 March 2017.

The workshop which was held from 1st to 3rd of March, 2017 in collaboration with Prisoners Rehabilitation and Welfare (PRAWA), a Non-Governmental Organisation and supported by Foreign and commonwealth office was a deliberate effort by PRAWA and Nigerian Prison service to ensure proper reforms in the Nigerian Prisons. This, according to the Public Relations Officer, Deputy Controller of Prisons, Francis Enobore includes but not limited to, appreciating the situation in the prisons and bridging the communication gap among various publics, notably, the media.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), in collaboration with Nigerian Universities, has successfully produced a test bench locally for testing the anti-skid system on the Alpha Jet aircraft. The new test bench allows the entire anti-skid system to be tested on the ground before installation on the aircraft unlike what hitherto obtained where test on the aircraft component was carried out in parts. This feat has not only saved the country huge foreign exchange that otherwise would have been spent abroad, it also marks a major research and development breakthrough for the NAF in its drive towards developing local capacity for self-reliance.

Troops of 8 Task Force Division, Nigerian Army, on clearance operations under the auspices of Operation LAFIYA DOLE in the North East yesterday had an encounter with Boko Haram terrorists at Chikun Gudu, northern part of Borno State. During the encounter, the gallant troops neutralized quite a number of the terrorists, while others escaped with gun shot wounds. They also captured gun trucks, arms and ammunition as well as 14 terrorists.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has adapted its L-39ZA trainer aircraft for combat role. The decision was informed by the need to commit more platforms to the various Internal Security Operations in which the NAF is currently engaged. Hitherto, the NAF had employed the L-39ZA aircraft solely for basic flying training though the aircraft is capable of undertaking light ground attack. However, this combat capability of the aircraft was never exploited before now because of the role to which it was employed. Preparatory to the new role, the NAF successfully test fired the weaponised aircraft fitted with rockets and canons. The firing display, as shown in the enclosed declassified footage, was conducted at NAF Air Range in Kwenev, Makurdi, Benue State.
