Fact-Check: Are Rival Women at the Inauguration of Rep Speaker Abbas Tajudeen his Wives or Female Legislators

Claim: A video trending on Social Media displaying two women who interrupted the moment where the newly elected Speaker House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, was taking his oath, claimed that they were not his wives but his colleagues in the house of representatives who moved the motion for his election.

Full Text: In the video, Abbas was flanked on his left by a lady and Alhassan Doguwa, the lawmaker representing Doguwa/Tudun Wada federal constituency.

However, it was later interrupted by another lady who barged into the platform and pushed the other other lady aside. That singular action appeared to have shocked Abbas who paused the oath he was taking and exchanged words with the intruding woman.

Despite the exchange of words, it shows that neither of the both women backed down as the proceedings continued with them by his sides.

Social Media platforms especially Facebook became awash with commentaries about the act by his supposed “wives.”

However, a claim soon emerged online stating that the women were not his wives but Members of the House of Representatives.

The claim reads, “Fake News. The two women are members HOR. In fact, the first woman thought she was the one that seconded the nomination of the speaker. Her voice came well ahead of the second woman but was not recognized by the Clerk.

“The second was later recognized and made to second the nomination. You can see that the first woman quickly moved away.”

Verification: In order to verify the authenticity of the new narrative, PRNigeria reached out to a closed source who confirmed via telephone call that, the women were infact his wives and not members of the House of Rep.

According to him, “Both women are his first and second wives, Fatima Abbas Tajudeen and Hussaina Abbas Tajudeen, respectively.”

Meanwhile, the incidence was widely reported by mainstream and social media platforms.

Conclusion: Based on facts gathered by PRNigeria, both women at the Swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Speaker House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas are his wives. His first wife, Haj. Fatima Abbas Tajudeen, and Second wife, Haj. Hussaina Abbas Tajuddeen respectively.

PRNigeria therefore concludes that the claim that the trending video online displaying the incident of two women shoving each other at the Swearing-in ceremony of Hon. Tajudeen Abbas were not his wives but members of the house of representatives is FALSE.
