Amputee Debunks Islamist Rumors, Reveals Kidnappers’ Brutality

Lanlege Samuel Adewale, a middle-aged man who recently had his left hand severed by kidnappers, has set the record straight about the circumstances surrounding his horrific ordeal. A video of Adewale’s mutilated arm had gone viral, sparking widespread speculation that Islamists were responsible.

However, in a statement to security personnel after his rescue, Adewale revealed that the true culprits were kidnappers.

According to him, he and his brother were abducted by eight gunmen while riding a motorcycle in Kogi State. The kidnappers took them to their hideout in Kwara State, where Adewale attempted to escape.

“In a bid to avoid a machete attack to my neck, I tried to resist, and one of the kidnappers cut off my left hand,” Adewale explained. “I was left for dead, but thankfully, a joint security team found me and rushed me to the hospital.”

Adewale’s account contradicts the false narrative that his amputation was linked to Islamist activities or an attempt to spread jihad in Yorubaland. He emphasized that the kidnappers’ aggression and refusal to negotiate with his relatives prompted his attempted escape.

The rescued victim expressed gratitude to the security team for saving his life and providing timely medical attention. Adewale’s story serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by kidnapping gangs and the importance of verifying information before spreading it on social media.
