AGF Ahmed Idris Solicits Sgf’s Support In The Implementation Of Treasury Reforms Policies

ahmed-idrisThe Accountant General of the Federation, Alhaji Ahmed Idris FCNA has appealed to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Engr, David Lawal Babachir to use his good office to support the various reform initiatives being embarked on by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation.
Alhaji Idris made this call during a Courtesy call on, October, 14th 2015. The meeting was to brief the new Secretary to Government of the Federation , Engr. David Lawal Babachir, of the activities of the Treasury House.  
The Accountant General also informed the Secretary to the Government that since his assumption of office, he had improved on the innovations aimed at reforming the Public Fiscal Management in the Country.
Some of these reforms he said include: the Treasury Single Account (TSA) , Government  Integrated Financial  Management Information System,(GIFMIS) Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) and International Public Sector Accounting Standards ( IPSAS) which are aimed instilling transparency and prudence in the management of the nation’s finances and equally making Nigeria global player in public financial management in line with global standards.
According to the Accountant General of the Federation, while his office has commenced the full implementation of the Treasury Single Account following the Presidential directive on the e-collection of all Government receipts, it will however commence full implementation of IPSAS Accrual from January 2016.
Earlier, Alhaji Idris has congratulated Engr. David Babachir Lawal on his appointment as the Secretary of Government of the Federation, describing it as well deserved and praying God to grant the new SGF a successful tenure in office.
In his response, the Secretary to the Government, Engr Babachir Lawal, thanked the Accountant General for the visit and described him as a man of integrity whose appointment is key to the successful implementation of the Federal Government’s Economic reforms.
He also commended the Accountant General on the implementation of the GIFMIS and IPPIS saying that they are critical to the success of Nigeria in going forward and pledged that his office will support all the reforms aimed at effective and efficient management of the Government’ resources.
Engr. Babachir also called for a closer partnership with the Office of the Accountant General to ensure a speedy implementation of government programmes.
