The Accountant –General of the Federation, Mr. Ahmed Idris, FCNA, has called on professional bodies in the nation, to embark on researches and programmes that will help produce empirical solutions to the numerous problems facing the Nation.
Mr. Idris made this call today, 5th May, 2016, while receiving members of the Abuja District of the Institute of chartered Accountants of Nigeria,( ICAN) who were at the Treasury House to pay him a visit.
He noted that time has come for professional bodies in Nigeria, to go beyond their normal routine programmes and focus more on developing empirical solutions that will help the government address the numerous problem facing Nigeria, saying that these problems have become a clog in the wheel of the country’s development.
“As professionals, government will feel your impact more when you are involved in developing strategies that will address the problems bedeviling the society” the AGF reiterated.
He assured them that the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation is open to new ideas on how to improve of the reforms currently being implemented by Government to ensure more transparency and accountability in the management of the Nation’s treasury.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Abuja District of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, Mrs. Ifeoma Okpo, FCA, informed the AGF, that the society is impressed with the successes so far recorded by the Accountant-General since his appointment.
She emphasized that they were particularly impressed with the way the AGF has gone about the implementation of the Treasury Single Account, TSA, saying they have come to congratulate him and to assure him of their continued partnership and support to ensure that the Administration succeeds in its change agenda.
