NSCDC IS SERVICOM COMPLIANT – GANA

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, says the Civil Defence is Servicom compliant, and that Officers and Men of the Corps work round the clock to actualize the aspirations of the Citizenry to provide worthy services to them, not minding the risks involved in providing these herculean services, noting that the Corps Personnel deserve worthy encomiums.
The CG made this notable postulation during the Advocacy visit by the Acting National Coordinator Servicom Presidency, Nnenna Akajemeli, at the NSCDC National Headquarters, Abuja.

The NODAL NSCDC SERVICOM, Commandant Ego Echendu in her welcome address noted, that the Unit has been able to initiate programmes to bring about continuous efficient service delivery in the Agency.

In her speech, the Acting National Coordinator of Servicom congratulated the CG on his well deserved appointment. She pointed out that the Civil Service is undergoing changes to serve the citizenry well, emphasizing that Servicom is all about serving the people well. Nnenna highlighted that Institutions are important in any society. Therefore, are responsible to the populace in that the services rendered by the MDAs should be customer focused. Consultation is also important between the MDAs and the people to enable the Citizenry make input on how best they should be served.

Akajemeli further posited, service standards should focus on quality of services delivered to the people so as to meet their expectations. Ascertaining what is relevant to the public is vital as this will help satisfying their needs. She admonished that courtesy in discharging services is inevitable and this should be done professionally.

The Acting Coordinator maintained, that information dissemination is necessary for Service Providers to make available to their Customers for proper understanding between the service providers and the customers who are recipient of the services to be delivered or delivered at every point in time. She asserted that the time duration of response by service providers is very vital to address complaints of the customers as they are entitled to good service(s) delivery.
Responding, the Commandant General welcomed the Acting National Coordinator Servicom and her entourage to the Civil Defence, and asserted that the NSCDC is Servicom compliant as the Officers and Men of the Corps are very disciplined bunch who are very committed and dedicated to duty, maintaining that as a Grassroots Security Agency We have first-hand knowledge on how best to relate with the Public, as we are always in contact with the people both in the rural areas and at the urban centres.

The Leader of the Civil Defence affirmed that the Corps Personnel in discharging their duties work from dawn to dusk and from dusk to dawn. According to him, said, ” It is on record that the Civil Defence Officers and Men whenever they are called to perform any of their constitutional mandate, do it conscientiously, and the general public can attest to our personality profile “.

The Corps helmsman disclosed to the Acting Coordinator, that the NSCDC regulates the Private Guards Company (PGCs) in Nigeria, and the Corps has done a very good job in sanitizing the Sector. He explained that the process of registering any PGC follows a very standard procedure, as the list of Directors of any PGC to be registered are sent to the Department of State Security (DSS), for screening to ascertain their Persons, and this is done within two weeks interval.

Abdullahi revealed, that Foreigners are totally exempted from floating a PGC, as they cannot be allowed to operate within our security architecture in Nigeria. He also pointed out, that the NSCDC is neck-deep into Disaster Management as 5000 Personnel of the Corps are already in the North East protecting the IDPs and Occupying the liberated areas by the Military in that region.

The Chief Accounting Officer further maintained, that the Corps will not waiver in the provision of service as enunciated by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
