Prisoners Get Free Legal Services in Makurdi
Indigent prison inmates in the Medium Security Prison, Makurdi, Benue state have received free legal services courtesy of the Legal Aids Community Development Group of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The inmates who have no legal representations in court were clerked by the corps members in the bid to offer them legal services pro bono.
This gesture is geared towards reducing congestion in prisons, which is the major challenge of the prison.
The leader of the NYSC Community Development group, Miss G.O. Eke Esq said that it was part of their activities towards national development and solicited support from well meaning individuals and member of the society in order to reduce the awaiting trial conundrum in prison.
Community Development Service (CDS) is one of the Cardinal Programmes of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in which Corps Members contribute positively to the development of their host communities throughout the period of National service.
