ENVIRONMENT MINISTRY INAUGURATES GOVERNING BOARDS & COUNCILS

 ENVIRONMENT MINISTRY INAUGURATES GOVERNING BOARDS & COUNCILS 
The Minister of State for Environment. Ibrahim Usman Jibril has warned Public Servants and those appointed to the position of trust to imbibe the spirit of accountability, honesty and transparency in the management of resources entrusted in their care, stressing that the Buhari led Administration has zero tolerance for corruption. 
The Minister gave the warning at the weekend while inaugurating ‎ the Governing Boards and Councils of some Parastatals and Agencies under the supervision of the  Ministry. 
Addressing the appointees, the Ibrahim Usman Jibril emphasized  that it is imperative for them to bear in mind that “the present Administration has zero  ‎tolerance for any form of corruption and that the stance will not be compromised in anyway.
“Government frowns at any form of corrupt practices perpetuated by any board member as well as the management team of the Agencies” he added.
While noting that the environment sector is very vital to sustainable national development , the Minister urged them to bring their wealth of experience to bear on their new assignments in a manner that is consistent with the Change Agenda of the Buhari led Administration.
The Minister assured  that the Ministry would continue to work closely with the Agencies to ensure compliance with the extant guidelines of the Public Service Regulations adding that the governing boards and the agencies were critical in achieving the developmental goals of government.
He maintained that the Ministry was committed to providing the enabling environment that will align with the objectives of the government which is geared towards the provision of dividends of democracy to Nigerians.
Among the Board Chairmen inaugurated is the former Minister of State for Information and Communications, Hon Ibrahim Dasuki Nakande who was appointed as the Chairman of the National Biosafety Management ‎Agency (NBMA).
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Shehu Ahmed tasked the appointees to be alive to their responsibilities ‎by ensuring  the safety of our environment..
Other Parastatals and Agencies inaugurated during the ceremony include, the National Park Service (NPS) Chaired by Hon. Ben Nwobashi, Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN) with Alhaji Kaumi Damboa as the Chairman, National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency) NOSDRA) is headed by Sen Ayo Akunyelure, National Environmental Standard and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) has Barr. Iyola Oladokun as the Chairman, while the National Agency for Great Green Wall (GGW) is being chaired by Barr. Gbadegesin Adedeji
‎Responding on behalf of the newly inaugurated Governing Board Chairmen and Members, Hon Dasuki Nakande promised that they will discharge their duties to the admiration of Nigerianso by adding value to the various Agencies they have been appointed to serve.
