FG to Revisit National Carrier Project

The Honourable Minister of Aviation has said that there will be no going back on our national carrier as efforts will be made to put it back on track. The Minister disclosed this in his office while granting an interview to Kayla Megwa of Channels Television.

Honourable Sirika said that it is unacceptable that eighty percent of Airlines that come into Africa, are none African airlines adding that the era where foreign airlines make money from us will soon be over.

Senator Hadi, allays the fears of stakeholders on the National carriers as government will soon equip the airlines with modern planes and latest equipment to carry out full time maintenance of the country’s air planes to guaranty the safety of passengers’ lives and properties.

Speaking further, the Minister also frowned at the belief by some people that air travel is elitist stating that it is for everybody especially business people to generate the needed revenue to turn around the economic development of the Aviation sector.

The Minister stated that the Enugu airport will be closed down for reasons of poor maintenance of infrastructure especially the runway, which is now a dead trap because of its poor state, adding that he will meet with the South East Governors to rub minds on the clamour for extension on the closure.
