An impersonator of Police Boss Nabbed in Zamfara

IMPERSONATOR OF ZAMFARA STATE POLICE COMMISSIONER, CP USMAN NAGOGO AND RECOVERY OF VEHICLE SUSPECTED TO BE STOLEN

NAME OF SUSPECT:- IBRAHIM MOHAMMED MAI GANDI ‘M’ of moriki Emirate of zurmi LGA

EHXHIBIT RECOVERED:- MERCEDES BENZ Vehicle red in colour with out registration number and particulars valued #1,400,000

In its renewed commitment to rid the state of all form of criminal elements, the Zamfara State Command has succeeded in the arrest of a notorious fraudster, who impersonated himself as the Commissioner Of Police, Zamfara State Command, CP Usman Nagogo and collected the sum of one million eight hundred thousand naira (#1,800,000) from Senator Lawali Hassan Dan-iya of Zamfara West Senatorial District of the National Assembly.

Sequel to a report received from the said Senator that on 1st September, 2019 he received a text message from unknown person through MTN mobile number 08138888205 impersonating himself as the Commissiner of Police Zamfara State, CP Usman Nagogo. After series of text messages, the Senator decided to call the number only for the person to reintroduced himself as CP Usman Nagogo and demanded for sallah gift from him. The Senator directed his personal assistant to call the person and collect his account number. The sum of two hundred thousand naira (#200,000) was sent to his account as a sallah gift by the PA. Thereafter, the same person called the Senator again and told him that he was given nine slots for cadet ASPs and seven slots of Cadet Inspectors and demanded the Senator to pay the sum of two million naira (#2,000,000) for both slots. Following this development, the Senator directed his PA to transfer the sum of one million six hundred thousand naira (#1,600,000) to the acclaimed Commissioner of Police.

In light of the above complaint, an investigation commenced to this regard. The suspect was tracked through his GSM number mentioned above and was apprehended by Detectives in Gusau. During interrogation, he confessed to all the allegations leveled against him. However, a Mercedes Benz vehicle red in colour without registration number and particulars suspected to be stolen was recovered in his possession.

Investigation is in progress with a view to arresting other members of his syndicate and charged them to court for prosecution.

Finally, the Commissioner of Police urges the good people of Zamfara State to continue to cooperate with the Police and other security agencies in our effort to wipe out disgruntled elements in the society for sustainable peace and security in the state. He also thank the press for their continued cooperation and synergy with the Command through adequate publicity of its activities.
