Police Nab Killer of Gwarinpa Pharmacist

Sequel to the on-going investigation into the gruesome murder of late Sunday Chukwujekwu Ike ‘m’, the proprietor of Suncel Pharmacy Gwarinpa and Publicity Secretary of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), the FCT Police Command has arrested one Tukur Awwal ‘m’ 31 years old, the principal suspect who killed the deceased at his shop on 19th June, 2020.

2. The principal suspect, who gave details of how he shot the deceased during the robbery operation, was arrested by operatives of the Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) at his hideout in Suleja Niger State on Friday 7th August, 2020. He has also confessed to his involvement in some armed robbery operations around Gwarinpa and Gudu axis.

3. One locally made pistol, suspected to have been used to commit the crime, and one live ammunition were recovered from him as exhibits. Other exhibits earlier recovered from his gang members that were arrested on 12th July, 2020 is one Huawei phone and one Sky blue Toyota Camry car.

4. In views of this arrest, the Command wishes to inform the public that the criminal syndicate behind the unfortunate incident has been busted and its four members arrested. The suspects arrested are: Tukur Awwal 31 years old, Danbala Buba 42 years old, Isah Rilwanu 24 years old and Abdulhamid Nasir 35 years old, all-male.

5. While commending FCT residents for their continuous support and collaboration, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Bala Ciroma reiterates the Command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property in the Federal Capital Territory.

6. The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

CP FCT CONSTITUTES COMMITTEE TO CLAMPDOWN ON PERSONS OR GROUPS IN UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF PROHIBITED FIREARMS IN FCT

In compliance with the recent order issued by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu NPM, mni, for a nationwide clampdown on the proliferation of prohibited firearms, the Commissioner of Police FCT Command, CP Bala Ciroma has constituted a committee to enforce the directive in the Federal Capital Territory.

2. The Committee chaired by the Command’s Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations, DCP Sunday Babaji has been mandated to work with Traditional rulers, Area Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers to identify, isolate, disarm, arrest and prosecute any person(s) or group(s) in unlawful possession of prohibited firearms.

3. The Commissioner of Police has also ordered all Divisional Police Officers in the Federal Capital Territory to convene an enlightenment meeting of all vigilante groups, within their respective areas of responsibility, in order to ensure their activities are in conformity with the extant laws guiding their establishment and operations.

4. Similarly, individuals or group in unlawful possession of prohibited firearms can voluntarily submit such firearms at the nearest Police Division.

5. While reassuring residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property, the Command enjoins residents to promptly report or call any of these Police emergencies numbers in case of distress: 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653, and 08028940883.
