Gwagwalada Area Commander Orders Raid on Criminal Hideouts

Men of the Nigeria Police in Gwagwalada, FCT, have been directed to carry out raids on suspected criminal hideouts in the area.

The Police Area Commander in charge of Gwagwalada, Dr Sunday Okoebor disclosed this when he played host to Executive members of the Association of Resident Landlords, Phase 4, Compensation Layout, Gwagwalada.

Dr Okoebor who is an Assistant Commissioner of Police said the order became necessary following reported cases of recent criminal activities in Gwagwalada.

He said patrol vehicles have been deployed to the field for rapid response to distress calls by the residents.

Dr Okoebor told the resident landlords that the challenge faced by the police was lack of specific directions due to the numbering of streets, but advised the residents who make distress calls to use land marks such as the church, the mosque and shopping centres as directions for easy locations when the need arises.

The Assistant Commissioner expressed the hope that with the cooperation of Gwagwalada community, the police will rid the area of dangerous elements.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Resident Landlords, Professor Owojecho Omoha told the Area Commander that robbers now write to residents in the layouts of their intention to come and rob at nights.

Professor Omoha commended the police for their timely intervention following gun shots heard at night at phase 2 of the layout last Sunday in Gwagwalada.

He said members of the Association of Resident Landlords were in the police domain to seek ways on how to assist the police in combating violent crimes in Gwagwalada, and called on the police to maintain their surveillance of the area with the police patrol team.
