Olonisakin to Irabor: Build Synergy with Intelligence Agencies to Tackle Insecurity

The newly-appointed Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Major General LEO Irabor has been charged to build strong synergy with other security and intelligence agencies in order to contain the myriads of security challenges bedeviling the country.

The call was made by the immediate-past CDS, Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin on Friday during a handing and taking over ceremony, between the two officers, at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ).

Olonisakin said there is a compelling need to review current strategy to address the changing nature of the adversaries and security threats, saying intelligence gathering would make a premium input to the operations plan.

He noted that under his stewardship he was able to optimize opportunities inherent in research and development through collaboration with similar institutions locally and abroad.

“I want to encourage the incoming Chief of Defence Staff to continue to review our strategy, strengthen the existing joint operations efforts and build on the existing synergy with other law enforcement agencies.

“I am confident that General Irabor will lead the Armed Forces of Nigeria to build on what we have been able to achieve in the past five and half years and take the Armed Forces of Nigeria to much greater heights.

“I urge you to continue to give your best to ensure that Nigeria remains one peaceful, indivisible country,” he said.
