NIS Commissions another FOB at Efraya, Cross River State
In furtherance to the commitment of NIS in covering border areas that were taken over by irregular migrants, the Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede MFR, today 19th February 2021, commissioned another Forward Operation Base at Efraya, in Cross River State.

2. Speaking at the event, the CGI stated that the commissioning of the FOB was another milestone in the Service’s resolve to making sure that Forward Operation Bases are built in all our border frontiers for effective border policing. He said the Service under his leadership has made the constructions of Forward Operation Bases part of their commitment to address infrastructural needs of the Service, noting that these FOBs affords NIS the opportunity to address their challenges in combating frontally the menace of cross border banditry including smuggling of migrants (SOMs) and trafficking in persons (TIPs).

3. CGI Babandede further stated that the establishment of FOBs has gone a long way in strengthening the nation’s border security and boosting the morale of personnel by providing a befitting working environment. He said the project commissioned today is one of those laudable border security intervention efforts by the NIS, adding that last week, he was in Belel, Adamawa state to commission an FOB and just yesterday he commissioned another one at Afaha Offing in Akwa Ibom state. So far, he said NIS has successfully commissioned 14 FOBs across the country, including that of Efraya.

4. Babandede thanked the dignitaries that graced the occasion especially the Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade for his support, the Paramount Ruler of Etung LGA His Royal Majesty Ntue Atue Dr. Emmanuel Oru Ojong and the Local Government Chairman for accommodating the operatives.

5. The Comptroller General reiterated his commitment to visiting every location where the NIS formations are located to feel their pulse and address issues personally, not delegating anyone. “It is my duty to visit my operatives wherever they are stationed as a sign of good leadership” he said.
