Troops of the Nigerian Army in the North East have vowed to ‘finish’ any armed Boko Haram terrorist that challenges the ongoing counter-insurgency campaign.

The troops, in a video obtained by PRNigeria, chanted, “No More Prisoner of War”, after listening to a motivational address by the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru.

Attahiru who is on operational visit to boost the morale of the troops of the Army Super Camp 9 at Dikwa in Borno State over a recent attack by terrorists in the area, assured them of necessary support to effectively discharge their assigned task, and urged them not to let the nation down.

His words: “I came to visit you in army Super Camp 9. I bring you very special greetings from the President and Commander in Chief Of the Armed Forces.

“The idea is to motivate you. In the last few days, we have had attacks in your areas of responsibility.

“It is now high time we get and fight through and support our forces ahead of you.”

He directed the troops to clear elements of Boko Haram around Marte, Chukun Gudu, Karanuwa and Kirta-Wulgo villages within 48 hours.

He said that he had been briefed of their challenges such as overstay by some personnel and would soon address that.

The COAS also addressed civilians in Dikwa who came out in large number to receive him. He assured them of safety and the Army commitment to contain the insurgency.

Some of the soldiers also expressed their joys over the visit of the Army Chief in boost their morale and fighting spirits.

The COAS who was accompanied by the Maj. Gen. Farouq Yahaya, Theatre Commander Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj.-Gen. Abdul Khalifa, the General Officer Commanding 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 of the Nigerian Army and other top Senior Military Officers.
