Zamfara Police to Sanction Fake News Peddlers

It has come to the knowledge of Zamfara State Police Command that some individuals and groups who don’t mean well for the peaceful coexistence of the state are Embarking on spreading fake and unfounded information using social and conventional media platforms to report inaccurate security situation of the state. Thereby causing apprehension and confusion.

Report on Tungar Baushe village in Ruwan Tofa of Maru LGA is a glaring example. The entire report was a figment of imagination and a calculated attempt to create tension and fear into the minds of the citizens and also to undermine the efforts of the security agencies and the government in tackling the activities of the recalcitrant bandits who refused to embrace the ongoing peace process of the state government.

The Police as a lead agency in internal security is in a better position to give an accurate crime statistics of the state, and therefore can not continue to watch some unscrupulous elements to be spreading unverified information on security matters that are likely to cause apprehension and promote lawlessness and uncertainty in the state.

The Police and other security agencies in the state are collaborating with the State government to ensure the sustainance of relative peace in the state through more recovery of arms and ammunition and decisively deal with recalcitrant criminals who refused to renounce criminal activities, so that law abiding citizens can sleep with their two eyes closed.

The Command at this point wishes to warn that henceforth, it will not tolerate any act of lawlessness or attempt to disrupt the existing peace and harmony in the state. It is also working in synergy with other security agencies to deal with any person or group found guilty of this crime in order to serve as detterance to others.

The Command further uses this medium to express its appreciation to the government and good people of Zamfara State under the leadership of Dr. Mohammed Bello Matawalle MON for the sustained support and cooperation in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities of protecting the lives and properties of people of Zamfara State.
