Police Lose ASP, Nab 49 Shiites Protesters in Abuja

The FCT Police Command on Friday, 7th May, 2021 has successfully restored calm at Berger Round-About after professionally* *dispersing a violent protest by some members of the proscribed Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN)-Shiites.

Unfortunately, the members of the disbanded sect went on a rampage destroying public property and attacking innocent citizens including Police Officers using dangerous weapons such as cutlasses, sharp knives, etc. Sadly, one of the Police Officer Asp Adama Ezekiel deployed to restore calm during the violent protest paid the supreme price as a result of the brutal attack where he was stabbed by one of the irate protesters. Forty-nine(49) members of the sect were arrested and will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.

In view of the above, the Commissioner of Police CP. Bala Ciroma wishes to commiserate with the family of the deceased Officer who paid the supreme price in service to the Nation.

Furthermore, the Command wishes to state that it will not condone further attacks on its personnel, equipment or other public property by members of the proscribed group.

The Command implores residents to remain calm, law-abiding while reaffirming its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property within the FCT.

Airforce Recruitment Fraudsters on the Prowl- NAF Spokesperson Warns

The attention of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has been drawn to unabated activities of some unscrupulous and fraudulent individuals masquerading as NAF recruitment agents.

These agents fraudulently extort money from unsuspecting Nigerians under the guise of recruiting them into the NAF. They also go the extra length to perpetrate their nefarious activities by setting up fake websites, Facebook accounts and WhatsApp groups to lure unsuspecting applicants. Some of the existing fake platforms set up to swindle these applicants included but not limited to the following: “Nigeria Gallant Airforce”(WhatsApp/Facebook accounts), “Nigerian Air Force 2021/2022 recruitment” with account name, ‘Ntugba God’s Time,'(Facebook account) and account details: Ecobank, 396001097.

It is however saddening to note that in spite of series of repeated warnings and spirited efforts by the NAF over the years, to enlighten the public about the nefarious activities of these fraudsters, some people still allow themselves to be swindled by these crooked individuals on a yearly basis. It has therefore become highly imperative to warn the public against this unwholesome patronage.

In view of the foregoing, the NAF wishes to reiterate that recruitment and selection process into the NAF is absolutely FREE without any form of gratification or payment into any bank accounts. Additionally, the NAF does not engage any agents for recruitment and therefore, anyone who claims to be operating in such capacity on behalf of the NAF is a fraudster and should be reported to the nearest NAF Unit, The Nigeria Police Force or any other security agencies.
