PENLIGHT Centre Supports Female-Led National Peace, Unity Campaigns

PENLIGHT Centre Supports Female-Led National Peace, Unity Campaigns

The Penlight Center for New Media and Innovation, has pledged to financially support the Female Advocacy for Inter-Ethnic Relations (FARIER) and its advocacy campaigns, targeted at fostering national peace and unity.

The campaign, in partnership with Image Merchants Promotions (IMPR) Limited, involves a session of media engagements, in which the Team Lead and Campaign Anchor of FAIRER, Zubaida Baba Ibrahim and Chiamaka Asuozu Glory, will preach the gospel of peaceful co-existence and national unity, among teeming, yet diverse Nigerians.

This is coming as Nigeria battles lingering insecurity, and also continues to swim in the ocean of other multifarious socio-economic woes.

Ja’afar Ja’afar, Founder of the Penlight New Media and Innovation Centre, in a goodwill remark, lamented the disunity and division among Nigerians of various ethnic groups and religion.

He was speaking at the PRNigeria Centre Abuja. It was during an interactive session organized by FAIRER attended by reporters, together with gender and youth advocates.

Ja’afar, who is also the publisher of DailyNigerian, was represented by his Editor, Mr. Ibrahim Ramalan. He described the advocacy campaign of FAIRER as highly commendable.

He added that the ‘laudable initiative’ is coming at a time Nigeria is in dire need of a robust collaboration by stakeholders, to salvage the country from the looming danger, fueled by ‘menacing’ insecurity and violent ethnic agitations.

“This campaign is indeed brilliant and commendable. It will go a long way to address, and of course, solve most of our national problems, as they relate most especially, to our multi-ethnic diversity,” he noted.

While applauding the media feats attained by PRNigeria and other publications of IMPR, the DailyNigerian publisher, assured that their Penlight Center will throw its weight to support FAIRER’s noble and patriotic course.

Team Lead, Zubaida Ibrahim, said they will also be embarking on a community outreach as part of engaging the youths in nurturing a mutually-beneficial inter-ethnic relationship, among various Nigerian ethnic groups.

She added: “For now, we will organize media engagement sessions. As we know, the media is a very powerful tool for mass education and public enlightenment. In the media engagements, we will dissect the ills of allowing inter-ethnic and religious clashes to fester.”

Chiamaka Glory, the Campaign Anchor, said the over-aching concern of their FAIRER is to aggressively make a case for ethno-religious tolerance, among all Nigerians.

“We must appreciate our ethnic and religious differences. Let it be a tool for national progress and development and not violent and division. That is the only way to guarantee peace in our land,” she said.

Earlier in a discussion forum, a youth activist, Chukwukadibia Echefu, asserted that Nigeria can still attain greatness and prosper economically if the country’s vast human and mineral resources are efficiently harnessed, and not exploited.

On her part, Maryam Hassan of Illmi Children’s Fund under the Ayhay Foundation, saluted the officials of FAIRER for coming up with the peace and national unity advocacy project.

In his goodwill remark, Alhaji Yushau Shuaib, Founder of IMPR, expressed satisfaction with the efforts of the female campaigners, saying FAIRER’s media crusade will greatly promote harmonious coexistence in the country.
