The Chairman Military Pensions Board (MPB), Commodore SA Lawal, has bagged the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) Award for Accountable Leadership. This was in recognition of his transformational style of leadership which has instituted accountability, transparency and prompt payments of entitlements of pensioners or their Next of Kins (NOKs) at the MPB. This professional award was presented to him on 10 November, 2021 during the celebration of the 2021 International Accountants’ Day which was organized by the FCT1 Branch of the ANAN at the National Merit Award House in Maitama, Abuja.

In his acceptance speech, Commodore Lawal expressed his appreciation to the ANAN for finding him worthy to receive the award for his accountable leadership style at the MPB. He also used the opportunity to thank the entire staff of the Board for the roles they are playing to ensure that the Board effectively carry out its constitutional mandate. He however assured that he will not relent in ensuring that payment of pensions and gratuity as well as other entitlements are paid promptly and in an accountable manner.
