2023: Ex-Governorship Aspirant, Yinka-Ajia, Threatens Legal Action Against Kwara PDP Spokespersons

2023: Ex-Governorship Aspirant, Yinka-Ajia, Threatens Legal Action Against Kwara PDP Spokespersons

The candidate of the Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party (ANRP) in the 2019 Kwara gubernatorial election, Dr Abdulmumin Yinka-Ajia, has threatened legal actions againsts spokespersons of the gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Kwara 2023 governorship poll, Alhaji Shuaibu Yaman Abdullahi, over alleged false allegations in the media.

Ajia, who defected to the APC before the conduct of the 2019 polls, observed that a malicious article was ‘sponsored to tarnish his image over a legal suit between him and Yaman.

Speaking with journalists in Ilorin, the philantropist specifically mentioned the names of the spokespersons to Yaman, Mustapha Abdullahi and that of former Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, Wahab Oba.

He said: “I will like to say to those on Abdullahi Shuaibu Yaman’s payroll – people like Wahab Oba and Mustapha Abdullahi CommonSense – who ironically has no dint of sense – You all will be hearing from my lawyers very soon.

“Though I have a dispute with your principal, I will not descend into the gutter and will not resort to blackmail. I will pursue justice with ethics as my guiding principles. And since you both have violated this normative principle, the two of you along with your principal must be ready to face the consequences under the law.”

Giving background to the alleged campaigns of calumny against his person, Yinka-Ajia said: “I woke up to a viral news story in faraway USA. This news story sensationalized my dispute with Abdullahi Shuaibu Yaman and embellished it. I find this very distasteful.

“My dispute with Abdullahi Shuaibu Yaman was turned into a political circus show by some unethical elements. And while the instant case started since the defendant’s days in the APC, the issue in dispute isn’t a political one and I detest attempts to turn it into one.

“This episode has shown these fly by night – hack writers as people without scruples as they went to town with a patently false story. My dispute with Abdullahi Shuaibu Yaman is anchored on the truth and cannot be tainted by the shenanigans of a few paid no scruples hack writers.

“In the same vein, I will not be distracted in my pursuit of justice and I am using this medium to warn these unscrupulous individuals and their paymasters to keep my name off their mouths and sell their candidate or candidates without muddling the waters.”

Ajia clarified that his involvement in politics was as a result of an undying concern to better the lives of the people.

“Kwara is one of the most endowed states in Nigeria with abundant mineral resources, agricultural land, and waterways, our greatest resources are the ndustrious, hard – working folks, who despite the tough economy keeps on going, they are the reason why I got involved in politics to support them.

“Because I realized early on that my own prosperity is tied to theirs and that I haven’t succeeded if some people in Kwara are still living in poverty is why all of my investments except a few are in Kwara,” he added.

He urged media practitioners to adhere to their journalism code of ethics in their reportage of events ahead of the 2023 general elections.

According to him, media practitioners should have an objective view and shun the idea of following a political interest that will destroy their future.

Based in United State of America, Yinka-Ajia has huge investments in large scale commercial farm, real estate, hospitality business, educational institution in Kwara State and engaged in management consultancy through his capstone project, Safehands technologies DBA safehanzz.com.

He recently funded an endowment at the Kwara State University, Hajia Habiba Bola Ajia Memorial Foundation Prize in memory of his late mother.

He also established and funded Kwara Development Initiative, Agaka Football Academy and the Ilorin Gifted Academy in providing scholarships, entrepreneurship skills and empowerments of youths and unemployed people in the state
