After Christian Leaders Endorse Obi, Northern Islamic Scholars Support Tinubu in New Video

Some popular Northern Islamic scholars have endorsed the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in this Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly, NASS, elections, PRNigeria reports.

The Islamic scholars, in a 12-minute video obtained by PRNigeria, pledged to support the presidential ambition of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Sen. Kashim Shettima, the presidential and vice presidential candidates of the APC.

They separately called on their followers, and Nigerian Muslims to ‘unanimously’ cast their ballots for Tinubu and Shettima during Saturday’s poll.

Recalled that Politics Digest, a sister publication of PRNigeria, yesterday reported that the National Christian Elders Forum, a group of Christian elder statesmen across the geopolitical zones, endorsed the presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, for the February 25 elections. https://politicsdigest.ng/finally-nigerian-christian/

This came after Nigeria’s most influential pastors, including Bishop David Oyedepo, founder and senior pastor of Living Faith Church aka Winners’ Chapel; Pastor Paul Enenche, founder and Senior Pastor of Dunamis Gospel Centre, Abuja; and Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, founder of the Believers Love World aka Christ Embassy, also endorsed Obi for the election, as the next Nigerian president.

But one of the Islamic Clerics, in the video said: “Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima are our candidates. We didn’t lie!”

Another cleric said: “Since the Christian leaders have made their choice, we too should make our choice. Our vote is for a Muslim-Muslim ticket is also for a fundamental reason as claimed by pastors.”

One Sheikh Ismail Murabbi Mustapha, posited: “Since before he became Borno’s Governor, Shettima has been with our Tijanniyya sect. And even after becoming governor, he was with us and didn’t betray us. ”

As for Sheikh Muhammad Bin Uthman: “Gowon, for 9 years was Nigeria’s leader, and had a Christian Deputy. Did we (the Muslims) complain?”

Another Muslim preacher, in the video, also said: ” The presidential candidate and his deputy are very competent for the job… We need support them. We are very optimistic that there is justice in APC ticket.”

In the same vein, one of the clerics argued: “Both the (APC) presidential and vice presidential candidates are our fellow Nigerians. So, it behoves Nigerian Muslims to remain focused and ensure they come out en masse and cast their ballots for them. ”

Most of the scholars express different sentiments on their preferences of the APC candidates in the mosques. Some of the scholars included Sheikh Dr. Sani Sheriff Umar Bichi, Dr. Muhammad Sani Idris.
