AbdulRazaq tasks IEDPU on Development Projects

The Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has charged Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) on the need to renew its commitment to the all-round development of its constituency.

Abubakar Imam, IEDPU National Secretary confirmed that Governor AbdulRazaq gave this encouragement on Wednesday when he held a community development consultation with the leadership of the Union at Presidential Lodge, Government House, Ilorin.

The Governor, who thanked the Union for honouring his invitation at a short notice, explained that he was not satisfied with the level of development being witnessed in the community considering its human and material resources; particularly when compared to other communities within the State.

Mallam AbdulRazaq said that he expected the Union to mobilise indigenes of the community for more development, saying that the people of the community at home and abroad expected the Union to mobilize them for more developments .

He added that it would also not be unexpected if the Union took up the gab of an adviser and monitor by always pointing at gaps requiring government’s attention for the overall development of the State, saying that the IEDPU should take her proper position as a major stakeholder in the governance of the State.

While acknowledging the efforts of the present leadership of the Union in several spheres, Mallam AbdulRazaq said that he, as a citizen of Ilorin Emirate and a member of the Union, was ready not only to contribute his quotas to the tasks of leaving the community better than it was met but also encouraging his compatriots to do so as well.

He specifically charged the Union to immediately commission studies and prepare actionable reports on what is needed and where Ilorin Emirate and its people should be in a foreseeable future, pledging that his administration would always be ready to support the community within the limit of available resources.

Governor AbdulRazaq, who said that he had many plans to ensure that Ilorin, as the state capital, becomes a city of first choice in the North Central part of the country, assured the Union that, if reelected, he would ensure that more development-stimulating projects are located in Ilorin Emirate and the entire State as he solicited the support of the Union in the tasks ahead.

Responding, the National President of the IEDPU,Alhaji Aliyu Otta Uthman, fsi, thanked the Governor for his patriotism and contributions to the development of Ilorin Emirate and the entire State before and since he became the Governor of the State about four years ago.

Alhaji Uthman, who described Mallam AbdulRazaq as a listening, competent and committed leader, explained that the Union had received several monumental supports from the Governor, recalling that the Governor remains the only Chief Executive of the State who has not failed to honour the Union with his physical presence at its annual national conventions.

The IEDPU President equally commended the Governor for his promise to support the community’s efforts at transforming the Ilorin Eid praying ground and completing the Union’s ongoing Skills Acquisition Hub in Ilorin, among other stimulating promises.

He charged Mallam AbdulRazaq to ensure that more consultations are made with the Union to enable the government to be kept abreast of the needs of the people of Ilorin Emirate.

The retired intelligence technocrat wished the Governor the best in the contests and tasks ahead.

Alhaji Uthman was accompanied on the visit by the Union’s National Vice President, ACG Abdulmumini Abdulmalik (rtd) and the National Secretary,Mallam Abubakar Imam as well as the National Treasurer, Mallam Adam Hanafi Alabere.
