Mr. Enobore gave this charge while felicitating inmates in the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje on the steady progress in their academic pursuit, especially the impressive performances in the university programme. He advised them to remain resolute in embracing total change in character, upholding that which is descent and of good report. “I salute your courage, personal effort and sacrifices to re-write your story in life as you sit for this examination. I encourage you to see this as another opportunity to strive deeper in your determination to embrace behaviours that are rewarding and honest. You must look beyond your present incarceration and focus on personal improvement to secure smooth reintegration and relevance in the society when you discharge from prison” the director stressed.
NOUN, he noted, has graciously offered free education window for all inmates that so desire to acquire university degrees even to doctorate level, which should not be taken for granted but used to set a new agenda for active participation in societal growth.
A total of 1,440 inmates made up of 1,320 undergraduates, 115 postgraduates (PGD and masters) and 5 PhD students are undergoing various courses in the university.
It would be recalled that in the recent convocations ceremony of the university involving 28,740 students, 65 were inmates, including 7 who had Postgraduate degrees.
