How Villagers Perished in Boats Mishap after Wedding in Kwara State
An unconfirmed number of villagers have perished in a boat mishap on the River Niger while returning from a wedding in Kwara State.
PRNigeria gathered that the incident occurred at midnight between Monday and Tuesday while the villagers were returning to Ebbu village after a wedding ceremony at Gboti community around Patigi.
An emergency management official told PRNigeria that the boat capsized due to heavy rainfall as the river overflew its banks.
The officer added that humanitarian efforts had commenced to rescue more victims and support the survivors .

Meanwhile, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari described the boat accident that occurred as unfortunate and disheartening.
The emir who is the Chairman of Kwara Council of Chiefs extended his sympathy to the Etsu Patigi, Alhaji Umar Ibrahim Bologi II, the government and people of the state, over the unfortunate incident.
In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Malam Abdulazeez Arowona, the Emir prayed for the families of victims of the boat mishap for God’s absolute comfort at this trying time.
“Our hearts and prayers are with you at this auspicious moment and may Almighty Allah give you all the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss this incidence might cause you,” the Emir said.
