Appointments: Again, MURIC Lambasts Tinubu for Betraying South-West Muslims
For the umpteenth time, Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has again expressed concern over appointments being rolled out by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying he has refused to select best skilled and talented Muslims across the country for appointments.
The Executive Director of MURIC, Professor Ishaq Akintola, who noted this at the just concluded national conference of the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria (SCSN) at the National Mosque, Abuja, with the theme, “Matters arising from 2023 elections and associated socio-economic challenges.
Akintola questioned why Tinubu hasn’t been picking the Muslims on political appointments but rather picks the Christians.
In his words “What we observe is that the government is operating a Christian, Christian government and we have made it known to the government. The signs are very clear even CAN came out to congratulate Tinubu for giving them juicy appointments.
“We disagree with Tinubu on the issue of appointments, if the president can hold this policy of saying is giving the best talent, the best skilled and couldn’t find those hands amongst the Muslims then it is an insult to the Muslims.
“Somebody found Oloyede, Pantami. Are there not Muslims in the South West and they have been complaining because they weren’t given appointments. Many of them are also politicians who struggled for Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“The president didn’t spread his nets to Muslim constituencies, Muslim areas. Why is it that he only sees skilled Christians and doesn’t see talented Muslims and that is a minus for any government because it means you have been training only the Christians.
“What have you been doing with the Muslims, these are people who are denied education particularly in the South West, we suffered before we could gain admission but we are saying the president is not searching well enough. Did Bola Tinubu consult the Supreme Council for skilled Muslims.
On the present economy, he said the economy has not made any headway and the naira depreciates on a daily basis.
According to him, the Sharia Council is correct in its pronouncements on the expectations of the Tinubu led administration. “He made promises but we are not seeing any results. There is a free fall in Naira, the masses are suffering. If in 6 months there is no result, I think we should be asking questions, so that the government can review it”.
On immorality, he said LGBTQ is one issue that exposes the evil of the West adding that it is satanic and not civilization.
He said MURIC rejects LGBTQ and accused those countries promoting it as agents of the devil.
Also, the Vice Chancellor of Al-Istiqamah University, Prof Salisu Shehu observed that that is underfunded education in our states and these people come in different names with money to take over people with wrong doings that are inimical to our faith and values.
He said there was a need to inculcate the need of reading and engage people particularly youths from the ages of 18 to 29 not to accept homosexuality.
“There is a need to engage them against LGBT. Alleviate poverty in our society. We should undertake capacity building for Imams, amongst others,” he said.
