Saudi Arabia @297: Celebrating a Kingdom’s Rich Historical Trajectory

On February 22, 1727, marked the birth of a great Kingdom. It was the day the Emir of Diriyah, Muhammad bin Saud, established Saudi Arabia, after assuming power as its pioneer monarch.

This event marked the beginning of a proud legacy that continues to this day, as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrates its 2024 Founding Day with pride and joy. From its ancient roots to its modern-day achievements, Saudi Arabia’s story is one of resilience, determination, and innovation.

King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, established Saudi Arabia’s Founding Day in 2022 to honor the kingdom’s deep and diverse historical, civilizational, and cultural roots.

The holiday is one of the three non-religious national holidays in the country, along with Saudi National Day and Saudi Flag Day. These holidays serve as opportunities to celebrate the nation’s past, present, and future.

The Founding Day is a tribute to the legacy and vision of the Al-Saud family, who have led Saudi Arabia through triumphs and tribulations, forging a path to its position as a regional and global leader. It also honors the resilience and unity of the Saudi people, who share a deep sense of national pride and a common goal of creating a better future for themselves and their country.

This day represents a shared vision and commitment to building a stronger and more prosperous nation.

No doubt, Saudi Arabia is a nation with a proud history and a bright future, shaped by the contributions of the Al-Saud dynasty, the religious guidance of the Wahhabi movement, and the country’s vast natural resources.

Though The Kingdom is facing many challenges in balancing its Islamic traditions with its modern aspirations, Saudi people deserve recognition and support as they continue to build a peaceful and prosperous nation.
