NIPR Inducts 46 Postgraduates as VC Supports Campaigns against Quackery in PR

Worried by negative implications of quackery in the society, the Ag. Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Prof. Abdullahi Modibbo has called on both government and private institutions to stop the habit of engaging non-licensed individuals for public relations responsibility.

In his remarks during the induction of 46 postgraduate students of the Institute of Strategic and Development Communication (ISDEVCOM) into the NIPR today in Keffi, Prof. Modibbo, stressed that activities of quacks endanger the society and hinder progress.

He applauded the current leadership of the NIPR for the bold initiatives towards restoring the dignity of the Public Relations profession, emphasising that professionalism is required to drive the needed development in the country.

Earlier, the NIIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku said that Federal Government’s recognition of NIPR as a Chartered Institute through a decree in 1990 and now Act of Parliament to regulate the practice of Public Relations in Nigeria lends credence to its importance to nation building.

He commended the decision of the new Inductees to be on the right side of the law, while cautioning those still operating illegally to desist from quackery, pass through laid down processes and obtain license to practice.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of Visionary Leadership Award to the NIPR Boss by the Representative of the Nasarawa State Governor, Director General, Strategic Communication, Mr. Yakubu Lamai, who stated that the verifiable unprecedented achievements of Dr. Neliaku led Council have opened robust partnership opportunities for the Nasarawa State Government and the Institute.
