Malam Isa Gusau, I Want to Speak with You

By Abdurrahman Bundi

Today is yet another birthday of a mentor and brother, Mal Isa Gusau, though it has been six months since his death. On a day like this, we all, his associates, celebrate him with all kinds of encomium, social media posts, text messages, WhatsApp messages, etc.

The Chief Strategist, as we used to call you, I missed you, and I want to speak with you; you have been a mentor to me since we cross-path years ago, and you advise me genuinely and with all sincerity.

Sir, I have a lot to tell you but don’t know where to find you. You have gone; you left us so soon, when I needed you so much, when I needed all the protection you gave, the support and encouragement that you yearned so much for me to always be better.

Sometimes, when I miss you a lot, I go back to all the chats we had; it has always been my reference. I run back to all that you have told me whenever I need someone to advise me.

You will continue to be in my heart; I will always pray for you until we meet one day, one day, in Jannatul Firdaus. I will tell you everything that has happened behind you.

May Allah have mercy on your soul, our Chief Strategist.
