SEMA, DSS Monitor Grains Distribution in Bauchi State
Bauchi State has successfully completed the phase II distribution of grains, targeting four local government areas and several key institutions among others.
The exercise, held on July 28, 2024, saw Shira, Gyiade, Dambam, and Jama’are Local Governments Areas received their allotted grains. Additionally, beneficiaries included boarding schools, the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
Recall that the federal government had earlier released 20 trucks load of rice to each 36 states and FCT which is part of the efforts to ameliorates citizens’ sufferings due to current economic hardships.
The event was meticulously supervised and monitored by key agencies, including the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Meanwhile, to further guarantee fairness and accountability, each local government established a dedicated committee to enhance the success of the exercise. These committees comprised representatives from various sectors, including the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Department of State Service (DSS), teachers’ union, local government union, clerics, and people with disabilities (PWDs).
This diverse representation was crucial in overseeing the distribution and ensuring that due process was followed.
The collaborative effort among these various groups underscores Bauchi State’s commitment to transparency and the fair distribution of resources. This initiative aims to support vulnerable communities and institutions, promoting food security and welfare across the state.
