Nigerian Army Launches Educational Materials for Schools in Minna
The Commander of the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) of the Nigerian Army, Major General Kevin Aligbe, has launched the second series of the TRADOC Educational Support Programme in Minna, Niger State.
This initiative aims to provide essential school materials to students in the Minna Military Cantonment and surrounding communities.
At the closing ceremony of the TRADOC Library Study Day Period 2024, held on September 17, 2024, Major General Aligbe presented over 31,000 notebooks and 19,000 writing materials, including biros, pencils, rulers, and erasers, to pupils and students for the 2024/2025 academic session ¹. Notably, more than 80% of the 7,200 beneficiaries are children of civilians from outside the cantonment.

In a statement by Lt Colonel Sani Uba, the Spokesperson of TRADOC, the Key Objectives of the Initiative is to subsidize educational expenses_ of personnel in Minna Military Cantonment and surrounding communities; enhance research potentials and reading culture_ among Nigerian Army Personnel.
It is also intended to boost intellectual and research capabilities through effective library usage and Position TRADOC NA Library as a premier repository for research and reference materials
Major General Aligbe emphasized the importance of libraries as platforms for acquiring new ideas and information. He encouraged participants to utilize the library facilities provided by the Nigerian Army to enhance their research and intellectual potentials.
The event was attended by high-ranking military officials, departmental chiefs, directors, and staff of the schools in Minna Military Cantonment. The Director of Army Training Support Centre, Brigadier General Victor Ita, expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff and the Commander TRADOC NA for their support in organizing the event.
