Troops Kill Turji’s Deputy, Injure Brother, Neutralize Several Allies in Offensive Operations

 

The military high command  says troops have killed Aminu Kanawa, the second-in-command of notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji.

Major General Edward Buba, Director Defence Media Operations, disclosed this today in a statement said the operation, which took place between January 20-21, 2025,

He said the operations also left Dosso, Turji’s younger brother, and Danbokolo, one of Turji’s closest allies, with terminal injuries.

Buba noted that the military onslaught, as part of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, neutralized several key commanders in Turji’s camp, including Abu Dan Shehu, Jabbi Dogo, and Basiru Yellow.

“Over 24 fleeing terrorists were also neutralized around Gebe and Isa Local Government Areas of Sokoto State, as well as Gidan Rijiya in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

“Another notable terrorist, Suleiman, a loyalist of late terrorist leader Halilu Sububu, was eliminated during the operation. Suleiman was leading a reinforcement team to rescue Turji’s camp when he was killed in a firefight.

“The death of Turji’s second-in-command, close allies, commanders, and combatants significantly weakens the terrorist network in the northwest”, he saod.

The Defence. Spokesman said these terrorists were responsible for numerous kidnappings and attacks in Zamfara and Sokoto States, particularly in Zurmi, Shinkafi, Isa, and Sabon Birni Local Government Areas.

 

He assured that the military operations will continue until the terrorists are destroyed, aiming to create a safe and secure environment for all citizens.
