Renowned Bauchi Islamic Scholar Dr. idris Abdulaziz Passes On
Renowned Islamic cleric and scholar, Dr. Idris Abdulaziz, has passed away after battling an undisclosed illness.
His death was confirmed by the official Facebook page of Dutsen Tanshi Majlis Bauchi, the mosque where he preached.
According to the announcement, his funeral is scheduled to take place at the Games Village Eid Ground in Bauchi at 10:00 AM on Friday.
In adherence to his final wishes, Dr. Abdulaziz explicitly prohibited photography at his funeral, banned memorial gatherings at his residence, and instructed that no one should jostle for his body or enter the cemetery wearing shoes.
Dr. Abdulaziz was known for his deep knowledge of Islamic jurisprudence, having earned a degree in Islamic Law from the Islamic University of Madinah and later a PhD in Islamic Jurisprudence from Sudan.
Despite his scholarly achievements, his career was marked by controversies and tensions, particularly with successive Bauchi State administrations, traditional rulers, security agencies, and fellow clerics from both the Izala and Tariqa sects.
His passing has drawn condolences from prominent figures, including former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, who prayed for his soul to find peace in Jannatul Firdaus.
