NSCDC Destroys Boat Laden with Stolen Crude Oil, Arrests Suspect in Niger Delta
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a suspect in connection with illegal oil bunkering and destroyed a large boat used in transporting stolen crude oil.
The development was announced in a post shared on the Corps’ official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday. According to the statement, operatives of the NSCDC intercepted a massive boat filled with illegally acquired crude oil and an accompanying large pour-put reservoir containing an unquantifiable volume of the stolen product.

The NSCDC described the operation as a major breakthrough in its sustained efforts to curb oil theft and economic sabotage in the country’s Niger Delta region. “Arrest of one suspect, confiscation and destruction of a large boat containing illegally acquired crude oil and large pour-put reservoir filled with unquantifiable volume of stolen crude oil,” the statement read.
While the identity of the suspect was not disclosed, the Corps confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the full network behind the criminal activity and bring other culprits to justice.

The NSCDC reiterated its commitment to intensifying surveillance and enforcement operations aimed at dismantling oil theft syndicates and protecting the country’s critical assets.
