APC Borno Stakeholders Reaffirm Loyalty to Tinubu, Shettima and Zulum, Reject Merger Talks

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Borno State have reaffirmed their unwavering loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, while expressing strong confidence in Governor Babagana Umara Zulum’s leadership. The declaration was made during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Government House, Maiduguri.

The meeting, convened to assess the state of the party and its role in national development, was attended by prominent APC leaders including the APC Deputy National Chairman (North), Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori; Senate Chief Whip, Mohammed Tahir Monguno; Senators Mohammed Ali Ndume and Kaka Shehu Lawan; former Governor Senator Maina Ma’aji Lawan; and former Ambassadors Baba Ahmed Jidda (China) and Dauda Danladi (Pakistan).

Also present were members of the National and State Assemblies, Speaker and members of the Borno State House of Assembly, former deputy governors, local government chairmen, political appointees, commissioners, special advisers, and other key stakeholders of the party.

In a communiqué signed by APC State Chairman, Hon. Bello Ayuba, and State Secretary, Barrister Mustapha Loskuri, the stakeholders declared their total support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and commended Vice President Shettima for his dedication and loyalty to the Tinubu administration. The meeting also expressed hope that the president would retain Shettima as his running mate in future elections.

The stakeholders lauded Governor Zulum’s efforts in combating insurgency and restoring peace and development in the state, urging him to remain focused and not be distracted by detractors. They emphasized that Borno remains a progressive stronghold and reaffirmed their commitment to the ideals and manifesto of the APC.

Rejecting any form of political merger or defection, the meeting resolved that Borno State shall remain firmly under the APC and warned party members against actions that could tarnish the party’s image. The stakeholders also called for strengthened internal democracy within the party to ensure sustained political dominance.

The meeting further urged President Tinubu to sustain his administration’s developmental and security efforts in Borno State. Specifically, they appealed for the continuation of oil exploration activities in the Northeast, particularly in Kolmani and around Lake Chad, and called for increased investment in road infrastructure to boost regional prosperity.

The gathering concluded with a call for unity, discipline, and loyalty among party faithfuls to safeguard APC’s legacy and future in Borno and across Nigeria.
