NAF Begins Aerial Display Rehearsals in Abuja, Lagos Ahead of 61st Anniversary
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commenced aerial display rehearsals in Abuja and Lagos ahead of its 61st anniversary celebration, scheduled for May 23, 2025.
In a statement released on Monday, the NAF urged residents of both cities not to panic over the sight and sounds of low-flying military aircraft, assuring the public that the rehearsals are part of scheduled activities to mark the milestone event.
“These aerial manoeuvres are designed to enhance the spectacle of the celebration’s grand finale and to demonstrate the professionalism and operational capabilities of the NAF,” the statement signed by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, read.

The NAF further assured citizens that all flight operations are being conducted with strict adherence to international safety standards, and urged residents to continue with their normal daily activities.
The annual celebration is expected to showcase the Nigerian Air Force’s achievements, modernization efforts, and contributions to national security.
This year’s edition comes at a time of renewed military engagement in various parts of the country.
With heightened anticipation ahead of the grand finale, residents can expect to witness a series of choreographed aerial stunts, fly-pasts, and military displays in the days leading up to May 23.
The NAF expressed appreciation for the public’s understanding and continued support.
