We’ll Ensure Adequate Safety of Our Airspace — CAS Assures
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) resolute commitment to safeguarding the nation’s airspace and ensuring the safety of all Nigerians, warning enemies of the country that there will be no hiding place for those who threaten national peace and stability.
Air Marshal Abubakar made the declaration on Tuesday, June 4, during the Nigerian Air Force’s Second Quarter Route March in Abuja, a fitness and solidarity event held simultaneously across all NAF units in the country.
“We will continue to defend every inch of our nation’s airspace and stand firm in joint operations to protect lives and property across the country,” the CAS stated during his address. “Rest assured, your protection is not just an obligation; it is our highest priority.”
Issuing a stern warning to terrorists, insurgents, and criminal elements, Air Marshal Abubakar added, “To the enemies of our nation, know this: there will be no hiding place for those who threaten the peace and stability of Nigeria. We are coming for you. We will find you and take you out.”
According to a statement released by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, the CAS also took the opportunity to express appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his consistent support to the Armed Forces.

“On behalf of the officers, airmen, and airwomen of the Nigerian Air Force, I reaffirm our unwavering loyalty to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces,” he said, noting President Tinubu’s dedication to operational effectiveness and personnel welfare.
Air Marshal Abubakar emphasized that physical fitness is now a core requirement for all NAF personnel, linking physical readiness to military effectiveness. “Physical fitness is no longer a matter of choice; it is a non-negotiable requirement,” he said. “As a matter of policy, I have directed that all Performance Evaluation Reports must be accompanied by a Physical Fitness Test Certificate. Furthermore, no personnel will be considered for promotion without being medically and physically fit.”
In line with this directive, he disclosed the approval of modern sporting facility construction in several NAF bases and the acquisition of state-of-the-art gym equipment for over 22 units nationwide.
He also likened the route march to the NAF’s broader mission for national peace and security. “Let today’s route march be a reminder of who we are and what we stand for. We are not just marching on roads—we are marching towards purpose, honour, and victory,” he declared.
The quarterly route march, as explained by Air Commodore Ejodame, is a mandatory exercise designed to promote endurance, unity, and physical preparedness for the rigours of modern military operations. It also serves as a symbolic demonstration of the Nigerian Air Force’s constant vigilance and commitment to defending the country’s sovereignty.
