According to reports by Zagazola Makama, the soldiers swiftly responded to the attack, cordoning off the escape routes and engaging the bandits in a fierce gunfight. Two of the assailants were gunned down, and two machetes were recovered from the scene. A military source confirmed that the operation is still ongoing to pursue fleeing members of the group.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday at about 1:30 p.m., local vigilantes in Garagi village, Mayanchi District of Maru Local Government Area, Zamfara State, confronted and killed three suspected armed bandits during a surveillance-led operation. The bandits were neutralized following a brief exchange, with community sources attributing the success to increased vigilance and intelligence-sharing in the area.
Authorities say investigations are underway to identify the slain bandits and verify links to larger criminal networks operating within the region.
The twin operations reflect ongoing coordinated security efforts involving both state forces and community actors in the fight against banditry in Nigeria’s northern states.
