NAF Taps NIGCOMSAT for Satellite-Based Security, Intelligence Support
In a strategic move to bolster its surveillance, intelligence, and communications capabilities, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has partnered with Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Limited to harness space-based technologies for national defence.
The collaboration was formalised during a courtesy visit by the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NIGCOMSAT, Mrs. Jane Egerton-Idehen, to the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, at the NAF Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday.
According to a statement signed by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at the Nigerian Air Force, both parties emphasised the need to reduce reliance on foreign technology in managing national defence systems.
Air Marshal Abubakar stressed the importance of home-grown solutions in modern warfare, noting that the dynamics of air operations today require secure, resilient, and locally managed technological frameworks.
“We must continually seek innovative ways to improve our capabilities and reduce reliance on foreign systems,” the Air Chief said.
