MAJOR SHAKEUP: Army Redeploys Commanders, Principal Officers
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has approved a major shake-up in the Nigerian Army, redeploying several senior officers into key command and staff positions.
This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday in Abuja by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Lt.-Col. Appolonia Anele.
According to the statement, the postings affect Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) at the Army Headquarters, General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Corps Commanders, Commandants of training institutions, and Brigade Commanders.
Among the new appointments, Maj.-Gen. Adekunle Adeyinka has been named Chief of Logistics (Army), Maj.-Gen. A.A. Adekeye is now Chief of Personnel Management (Army), while Maj.-Gen. T.B. Ugiagbe becomes Chief of Standard and Evaluation.
Others include Maj.-Gen. A.A. Idris as Chief of Military Intelligence (Army) and Maj.-Gen. M.O. Erebulu as Provost Marshal (Army). Maj.-Gen. E.A. Anaryu has been appointed Corps Commander, Supply and Transport, while Maj.-Gen. J.E. Osifo takes over as Director-General, Nigerian Army Finance Corporation.

In the international sphere, Maj.-Gen. S.A. Akesode has been posted as Head of Mission, African Union Verification Mission in Tigray, Ethiopia.
The newly appointed GOCs are Maj.-Gen. A.S.M. Wase, who becomes GOC 1 Division/Commander Sector 1, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, and Maj.-Gen. C.R. Nnebeife, now GOC 2 Division/Commander Sector 3, Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
In training institutions, Maj.-Gen. M.O. Ihanuwaze has been named Commandant of the Nigerian Army Finance School, Maj.-Gen. K.O. Osemwegie now heads the Army Signal School, Maj.-Gen. A.J. Aliyu takes charge of the Ordnance School, while Maj.-Gen. A.C. Adetoba has been appointed Commandant of the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management.
At the Brigade level, Brig.-Gen. M. Jimoh is now Commander, 1 Brigade; Brig.-Gen. N.E. Okoloagu takes over 2 Brigade; and Brig.-Gen. A.A. Bello becomes Commander, 6 Division Garrison/Sector 3, Operation DELTA SAFE.
While charging the newly appointed officers, Gen. Oluyede urged them to redouble their efforts in sustaining ongoing operations against terrorism, insurgency, and other security threats. He assured that the welfare of troops will remain his top priority.
